Dia de los Muertos in Paris

During the autumn vacations, we went to see an event dedicated to the famous Mexican festival of the dead, Dia de los Muertos, which took place at the Jardin d’Acclimatation.

My daughter’s Spanish teacher told the students about this event. We decided to go there, especially since we had never been to the Jardin d’Acclimatation.

The Jardin d’Acclimatation

It’s a very nice place to walk around. We will go back there when the weather is nice to enjoy the attractions and the garden. Indeed, it was very very cold that day.

There are several very cute places and you can put yourself at a distance from the crowd and the noise that you find around the attractions. This allows you to take some welcome breaks because the Jardin d’Acclimatation is the kingdom of children because when you say children you say a lot of screaming.

We also took the opportunity to discover the Louis Vuitton Foundation. I really like its architecture and the multiplication of the points of view.

Visitors are put in the mood as soon as they enter the garden thanks to very colorful decorations.

At nightfall, the atmosphere changes completely and becomes more terrifying.

The sets are really nice. We were too tired to do the attractions, but it looked good.

A parade with dancers, mariachis etc. started around 5pm. My pictures are not as sharp as I would have liked because, like a big idiot, I forgot to change the ISO on the camera. Anyway, it was great and you’ll have to take my word for it because I only saved these two pictures haha.

At the end of the parade, we ran quickly to see the show. Unfortunately we were a little far from the stage.

At the end of the show I was able to get closer and one of the dancers was kind enough to pose.

The show was very beautiful, with fireworks. I will gladly go back next year, but a little more prepared!

Have you been to this event? Did you know about it? I hope I made you want to go.

I think we’ll go back to the Jardin d’Acclimatation in spring. We will take the opportunity to visit the Louis Vuitton Foundation because I saw that there will be a great exhibition “Basquiat x Warhol, à quatre mains”.

See you soon!
