This year, like the previous ones, I opted for an advent calendar in the form of a unique box to fill each day.
Since my daughter is a huge manga fan, I chose to do a Japan/manga theme for the calendar, gift tags and greeting card.
For the calendar I created a “manga box”. I found the perfect size box at the BHV and the rest was made with what I had at home and images found on the net (I think I’ll make a tuto soon).
The manga I chose to represent is one of her favorites: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. I selected it among all the ones she reads because I knew there was a Christmas episode. So I looked for illustrations on this theme and I made a composition. On the cover I added the Merry Christmas at the top and the title of the manga.
On the side I added an image, the title and the year 2022. I also found an image for the back and added the summary of the Christmas episode of the anime.
The edge is covered with a pattern simulating the pages of a book for a realistic effect.
Before buying something to fill the calendar each day, I asked her to make me a list of his favorite manga and characters. I then searched on the net for little things like stationery, figurines etc.
She liked the calendar so much that she will keep it in her room all year. This is the greatest reward for me. <3
